If you ever want me to buy a beauty product just say these few words "it has a cult following in so-and-so country." Whether it's Japan, Sweden, South Korea or Madagascar - if it's a must have beauty staple from another country, I'm sold. So when I saw this red tube with a blurb about Australia's obsession with it, I knew I had to try it. However, this product actually lived up to the hype and has now become my new favorite winter staple.
A mix between Vaseline, Aquaphor and Neosporin this "cult classic" made with fermented papaya fruit can be used on chapped lips and dry skin, for healing cuts and diaper rash, as sunburn relief, and so much more. While I don't use it for everything like the Aussies do - it's become my winter go-to beauty product. I rub it on my lips every morning, noon and night, dab it on my cheeks as a highlighter to add a dewy glow and slather it on my hands, cuticles and feet before bed.
I've always suffered from extremely chapped lips in the winter and have searched high and low, buying any lip balm I could find - from the cheapy drug store kinds to the fancy, only found at Barney's kinds and nothing has worked like this before. Some articles have come out and said it's only 4 % pawpaw and merely a more expensive tube of vaseline, but my lips have never been so soft and smooth! This winter, compared to the other years of constant vaseline applications, my lips just feel so so much better- so I don't care what anyone says, it works! I also suffer from the occasional cold sore (if you are a fellow sufferer, you know how horrible and embarrassing those suckers can be) and this stuff is gentle, unlike some harsher chapsticks I've tried that irritate my lips and can cause a breakout. As an added bonus, I love the way it tastes on my lips. It doubles as a lip gloss too, leaving a nice sheen so I can either wear it alone for a more natural look, or on top of red lipstick for a more glam look. Friends have also said they use it to tame stray frizzy hairs and their eyebrows.
I keep a small tube on me at all times. It keeps my lips hydrated throughout the day, while also doubling as diaper cream when I'm on the go! Not many beauty products can equally go on your lips and your adorable baby's bum! While it once was hard to come by in the states, you can now buy it on from Amazon here.
Any other cult classics out there I should know about?
