One of my favorite ways to glam up for a wedding is to get my nails done with a simple pop of nail art. I'm not talking about complicated, have to sit still in a chair all day long nail art - just a little something more special than a regular ol' manicure. I recently got my nails done and got a strip of gold across the nail, 1/4 of the way down. All the manicurist did was add a strip of thin gold tape on top of a black manicure and sealed it on with a top coat. I got a gel manicure so it lasted two weeks, covering the span of my birthday, Jamie's shower and the wedding I was at this weekend. It was so simple, yet everyone at all the events "ooh-ed and ahhh-ed" over them. Plus, the gold band perfectly matched my midi first knuckle ring from Cat Bird.
Have you ever tried nail art? I'm always looking for simple ways to add a little fun to my every day look, especially these days when I'm feeling exhausted and not so put together. For two weeks, no matter what I wore or how unkempt my hair was, my nails were elevating my look. After noticing my nails, someone commented that I was a "chic-mom," and for a second I felt like I was fooling everyone! If they only knew what my apartment looked like or the last time I showered.
After researching, I realized you could even do it yourself at home with this handy gold tape nail art guide from Honestly WTF. I am totally buying this gold tape and seeing if I could recreate the look without the steady hands of a manicurist! I'll let you know how it goes!
