One of the best things about changing seasons is the idea of packing away your old wardrobe and starting fresh with clothes that have been in your closet long enough to feel new again. Spaghetti strap maxi dress, you're a sight for sore eyes! And maybe, just maybe, sprucing things up a bit more by purchasing a few new season specialties. I'm trying not to go crazy with spending, myself, but I can't resist a new pair of sandals at the beginning of summer. They all just get so grimy and worn down by the end of a season...it's so satisfying to toss out those white-turned-grey Havaianas and start fresh. This year I went back to an old favorite - the Dr. Scholl's Original Sandal. There was a time in the early 2000's when I had these in every color shown above - and I wore them down to about half their original height over the years before finally tossing them - in favor of something gold and strappy, probably. Now the cloggy look seems to be in fashion again (at least I've seen quite a few clip-clopping around Williamsburg, lately). And if Birkenstocks can make a comeback, I figure these can to!
I just unpacked a crisp clean white pair, and have been really satisfied with the wooden gallop sound of these first warm days. No doubt they'll be a grimy grey hue come September, but for now, I feel bright and hopeful and ready for a full season in the sun! It's like I combined the satisfaction of finding an old favorite at the back of my closet with the joy of unpacking something new. I got mine at Zappos, but they're available at a variety of retailers.
Happy Sandal Season!
