I don't know if it's the brutally cold weather or the fact that I've had just about every technological problem one could have lately, but this felt like a long week to me. Happy Friday - we made it! This cocktail, adapted from Bon Appetit, is sort of in keeping with our January cocktails, which all borrowed influences from healthy ingredients, like green juice, coconut water and the Master cleanse. This cocktail starts with chamomile, a calming, soothing tea perfect for sipping on out of a warm mug on a cold night like tonight. Only we made ours cold and covered it in alcohol...even better.
Perhaps you've noticed a few missing posts this week. The combination of winter hibernation instincts and Marisa's impending maternity leave (!!) have made us slow down a bit. In the next couple of months, as Marisa canoodles with her new baby and I cry to myself each work day because I miss her so, we'll be taking a bit of a step back and easing up on our posts a bit. This soothing chamomile cocktail seems like a good toast to our new laid back blog-style!
I get so cranky and bored and glum as winter drags on...but the truth is, it's a good time to take things slow and easy - to enjoy the calm before the "storm" of spring and summer, which are so fun and sunny, but often frenetic with activity. So hunker down with this cocktail this weekend and say a toast to cozy, mellow times. The tea adds a subtle herbal flavor and the honey a soothing warmth to an otherwise very simple gin and lemon combo.
