In our final Academy Award-inspired post of the week, here's a cocktail fit for toasting Hollywood royalty - the Kir Royal. With a tint of red carpet color and enough bubbly to make even a night on the couch seem glamorous, the Kir Royal is a perfectly simple beverage to sip on while you watch stars mingle on the red carpet this weekend. To add a little glitz reminiscent of golden statue itself, Marisa found these edible gold stars, which made our cocktails as star-studded as Hollywood Boulevard.
A Kir is a classic French cocktail made with Creme de Cassis, a blackcurrant liquor, and white wine. To make your Kir Royal, simply swap out the white for champagne (or in our case, a sparkling white like prosecco). For our gilded rim, we dipped the edge of our glasses in a shallow bowl of lime juice, shook it off so that it wouldn't drip, and rolled the edge in a pile of gold star sprinkles. Aren't we fancy? Gold sugar would work nicely, too. (We skipped them this time, but blackberries are a classic garnish).
