Here's an easy way to make your Christmas afternoon (or morning, no judgement!) a little more cheerful. After you make a pot of hot chocolate for all the kids, pour in a splash of Peppermint Schnaps into the adults' cups and enjoy a minty, spiked hot chocolate. It tastes exactly like an Andes Mint. In my family, we end Christmas dinner with Andes Mints, so to me, this tastes like Christmas.
My friends and I first discovered this amazing combination while having a snow storm party right around Christmastime (Okay, it was more like a snow dusting party, but snow is snow!). We all dressed in our pjs, got comfy on the couch, and drank spiked hot chocolate while watching Love Actually. It was festive, cozy, and made for a perfect snowy day. Since then it's been my go-to holiday spirit. I've spiked to-go cups at skating rinks (mixing ice skating and spiked drinks, however, is not recommended) and even taken the toasty concoction out golfing one cold day. But on Christmas night, after all the gifts have been opened and the roast eaten, I like to wind down with one in front of the fire, listening to Classic christmas songs.
What do you drink on Christmas day?
