I found the recipe for this cocktail at the kitchn this past summer and immediately filed away as something different and interesting to try. My love of Campari grew out of a negroni obsession of mine, and now I jump at a chance to drink it in any concoction I can find. Mixing it with beer was a totally new idea to me and sounded intriguing!
At the kitchn, they declared this was their staple drink of the summer and sourced it originally from a NY Times article about summer cocktails. And yes, it certainly makes a great cocktail for the summer season...but I think it's a great fall cocktail, too. And not just because I was too busy being pregnant this past summer in order to enjoy them then (but also in large part because I was too busy being pregnant this past summer in order to enjoy them then!). To me, this is a great late fall Sunday afternoon drink - perfect for watching football on the couch. It's not too alcoholic, it's as simple and refreshing as a beer during the game should be, made more complex by the bitter burst that Campari brings. It's hoppy and citrusy and floral, but simple at the same time. And who says I have to save Campari for the summer time anyway?

Try one this weekend (like maybe while the Giants play the Buckaneers on Sunday, for example) and let me know what you think...too summery for November, or just right?
