I heard this crazy rumor once. I heard that there are people who sometimes open a bottle of sparkling wine and don't finish the whole thing in one sitting. Sooo...for those people, I have a little tip that could come in handy this holiday sipping season.
When saving the remainder of an unfinished bottle of bubbly, slip the handle of a silver spoon into the neck of the bottle before putting it in the fridge. The oft-refuted and yet long-embraced theory is that the spoon keeps the sparkling wine bubbly for longer than it would without. For the record, there is little to no scientific evidence backing up this popular tip. But we're not scientists here, are we?! I've used it (on the very rare occasion that I don't polish the whole bottle off instead) and the champagne definitely holds its bubbles for a day or two in the fridge. So it's certainly worth a try!
