It's finally feeling autumn-ish around here! As much as I worship the sun and sea and sandy days of summer, I love a good change of seasons, that first snap of chill in the air, the new fruits and veggies, pulling out my sweaters for the first time (before I realize how pilly and drab they are from last year...).
This cocktail is my homage to the start of the new season, when it's time to start drinking bourbon again. As soon as summer ended, Marisa and I realized that almost recipe we clipped or cocktail we dogearred featured maple syrup in some way or another...so I guess it's our signature flavor of the season. A mapley bourbon cocktail sounds like the perfect way to kick it off!! This is the cocktail I'd be whipping up all weekend if I could, especially now that Brooklyn just got all stormy-cozy. Since I, now 38 weeks preggo, can't have any, please make some this weekend and let me know how they are!

In lieu of these, I personally plan on visiting Peter Pan Donuts, which is a neighborhood institution in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and seeking out their maple donut...because that's totally the pregnant alternative to a maple bourbon smash, don't you think?! And in a few short weeks, I'll join you in a mapley toast to the season.
Enjoy the cocktail and enjoy a cozy weekend!
