There's just something about loving someone that makes you want to plaster their name all over the place. From 40's sailors sporting "MOM" tattoos, inked in ribbon across a red heart, to pre-teens throughout the ages doodling "Mrs. So-and-So" in the margins of middle school notebooks, adorning yourself and your belongings with the name or initials of people you love is a classic symptom of affection. I've been lucky to receive a few cherished pieces of jewelry recently displaying the name or initial of my baby girl. I love that they commemorate in pretty gold trinkets the obsessive, all-encompassing love that has most recently redefined me. These make perfect gifts for a new mama or a newlywed, but are great for commemorating any love in your life, from your mom to your best friend. Or, better yet, make a classic Carrie Bradshaw statement - start off the year off with some self love and get one with your own name on it!
The Alphabet Ring from Catbird, in Brooklyn, comes in gold or silver. You can get every letter in the alphabet, or an ampersand.
This Etsy shop, Capucinne, has my favorite version of the name necklace, called their Tiny Name Necklace. There are a number of fonts to choose from, but I like the one shown (Samantha) best.
Also from Catbird is the You Are My Stars and Moon necklace. You can choose a different assortment of shapes and metals, stacking charms however you like. Mine has a plain gold moon and a gold star with an initial in it.
