I'm always looking to experiment with my nail polish - whether it be a new color, an ombré effect, a design to match an event theme, or any other kind of nail art, I'm willing to give it a try. Basically I'll try anything to escape the boring look my nails usually have going on. Last year I discovered my favorite nail trend, the matte effect, and I think fall is the perfect season to try it out yourself! The fall colors look best with the matte look and let's be honest, over the summer you want bright shiny nails that go with your tan and glisten in the sunlight. As we get paler and the weather turns cooler we tend to gravitate towards different colors. The maroons, grays and navy colors of the fall season all look great with the matte effect. But my favorite matte look will always be black, which goes great with leather jacket weather.
To get the matte look you simply just use a matte top coat over any regular nail polish and like magic it turns it from shiny to a matte finish. Since it can change any nail color, it's really fun to experiment with. Lots of salons have a matte top coat on hand, but some are still late to the game, so I bought my own. However, If you want to try it out before buying it, the nail salon is a good start! I use the Formula X Transformer Top Coat in Matte from Sephora and it works really well achieving the matte look with no streaks. I hear OPI and Butter Matte Top Coats work well too, but some others look more oily and leave streaky marks.
Try it out! It takes a little time to get used to, but it's a great and easy way to change up your nail routine with very little effort required!
(Please excuse the terrible hand modeling)
