What could be more springy than a peach-hued cocktail garnished with a punchy flower?! We've been dying to make this cocktail since we saw it in Martha Stewart Living a few years ago. After a particularly brutal winter, our Spring Fling gathering seemed the perfect place to debut it. Lillet is a brightly floral fortified wine perfectly refreshing for a sunny evening before dinner. The French aperitif, available in red, white or rose, has been around since the late 1800's...but somehow we've only recently made it's acquaintance (we knew it mostly from this famous ad campaign from the 1930's). If you, like us, aren't too familiar with it yet, try it first very chilled over ice with a slice of orange - the playfully floral flavor is almost like a cocktail by itself. Then stir it up with grapefruit juice and gin and giddily sip it out of coup glasses, like we did.
