moon phase calendar
Tomorrow is the last day of 2014 and it's time to start a brand new year! I love the feeling of starting each year fresh and there is no better way to celebrate (besides an abundance of champagne) than a new calendar. My favorite calendar that I've been buying for the last couple years is this gorgeous lunar calendar made by Stephanie Levy & Amelia Davis sold at one of my favorite natural beauty stores, Blades Natural Beauty. (Jessa is also an amazing make up artist in Brooklyn!)
I love being able to see what the moon phases are each night. I hang the calendar in our bedroom, that way if there is a bright, full moon in the night sky I can check it out before I jump in bed and get cozy. Whether you're a fan of astronomy, or believe that the moon phases effect your moods, behavior, fertility, sleep, surfing, or your natural rhythms of life or if you are like me and you just think all things celestial are pretty, this calendar is a beautiful way to keep track of the days and lunar phases of the year! Although, like Mercury in retrograde, I do like the idea of blaming other forces when I'm not sleeping well or dropping everything besides my own klutziness and poor sleep habits! This article may allow me to blame my sleepless nights on a full moon.
The calendar itself is so dreamy and pretty that I sometimes forget that it's not a piece of artwork and actual has some use! Each year the design is different and this year's cover is from an original watercolor. I may frame last year's cover for the baby's room because I love it so much. The entire calendar is printed on heavy weight paper from responsible paper mills. There is a single hole on top to hang on a nail or with the string provided. I hang mine without the string and hang the cover above the month, so that the cover is always visible. This year I plan on hanging it with these awesome decorative nails!
