Punch makes a party - and party time is here! I made this punch for the annual "Chrismukkah" party my husband and I threw last weekend. If you notice a lack of after photos of this cocktail, it's because these are pictures from the actual party, and the punch disappeared too quickly for its glamour shots to be taken. It was a big hit. Everyone loved it- guys and gals, big drinkers and just-dabblers. And that wreath-like ice ring in the middle got me lots of compliments. I felt like the hostess with the mostest...and just for making ice.
The night before the party, arrange some rosemary and cranberries in a bundt pan, fill it with ice, and put it in the freezer. Right before party time, run a little warm water over the back of the pan to slide the ice ring out and plop it in the punch bowl before adding your ingredients (best to start with the ice rather than the liquids, to avoid a splash).
This punch was adapted from one at Epicurious - I swapped out the mint for pine-looking rosemary and added rosemary to the simple syrup as well. I also substituted cranberries for pomegranate seeds, but only because it was what I could find at the store that day. Pick any garnish you choose...then simply slosh all the ingredients into the bowl, and slosh away! Nothing gets the festivities going like a big bowl of sparkling deliciousness that everyone can share.
