And another month bites the dust! I welcomed in November with a lazy, cozy neighborhood-y weekend, pulling out my hat for the first time and going out for ramen. It was a festive Fall weekend, with Halloween on Friday and the NYC marathon on Sunday, and I'm feeling pretty groggy as I sit at my desk this chilly Monday morning. In case you're feeling groggy, too, here are a few links to get you through to the next cozy weekend!
The Gothamist's best Halloween costumes on the subway.
This is a totally bizarre thing to attempt (I guess you'd call that Danish humor?), but I'm really impressed that this orchestra kept it together to complete a piece while eating hot chili peppers.
Here's some beautiful color footage of a young Joni Mitchell (great Monday morning music!), against a backdrop of 1966 Canada.
After footage of this woman revealed what street harassment looks like during a woman's solo walk around NYC, Funny or Die made this spoof of what 10 hours walking around NYC as a man looks like. Harassment is no laughing matter...but I've got to be honest, the male version kind of cracked me up.
I think it's officially slipper season!
This teacher learned a lot by spending two days in the role of a student. It's a good reminder of the age old lesson that we could all learn a lot by putting ourselves in someone else's shoes once in awhile.
I love these cute illustrations of 10 idioms from around the world.
This girl took 20 selfies as she ran the NYC marathon this weekend!
T-Pain without the Auto-Tune. Kind of adorable.
The arrival of November has me thinking about impending holiday festivities. I wish I had a gala to wear this to (and the budget to buy it)!
Burrata everywhere! Mmmm.
An interesting commentary on the state of the American political power watch
I include this link to the Grumpy Cat Christmas movie trailer against my better judgement, because my good friend MM loves Aubrey Plaza almost as much as she loves cheesy Christmas things!
These well-designed parking signs make me feel so calm!
These 6 Disney princesses were digitally edited to have more realistic curves...and they still look gorgeous.
