This is a simple little beverage I like to sip on every Thanksgiving, to toast while waiting for the turkey to emerge from the kitchen. It's festive, but light and bubbly - not too flavorful or heavy, so it leaves room for all the overindulging I do the rest of the day. I think what I like most about it is that it reminds me of the Martinelli's sparkling apple cider I sipped giddily at the kids' table for so many years. Only this is the grown up prosecco version...equally giddy, but packing a slightly larger punch.
Start with a splash of apple cider at the bottom of your champagne flute, top with prosecco, and garnish with a thin slice of a mini apple or pear. That's it...you can focus the rest of your energy on preparing yam casserole or putting the finishing touches on your holiday centerpiece! Or, in my case, on elbowing your way to the carving board to sneak the first bite when your dad carves the turkey.
Cheers! And PS: you can find instructions for making that hanging leaf garland here.
